Farewell from Deanna Dean, Our Youth Minister

I would like to take this time to share a decision I have made regarding my future. I have turned my letter of resignation in to Fr. Nick, and he has graciously accepted it. I will not be returning to St. Matthew next year. I am looking forward to exploring other avenues and adventures in my life. (Spending a little more time with my new husband is first on the list!) Please keep me in your prayers as I listen closely to God’s voice for the direction in which He is leading me this upcoming year.

I have so many beautiful memories here at St. Matthew. As the youth minister, it is ironic that the youth of this parish have taught me so much! They have taught me to laugh more each day, to strive for passion in your life, as well as new ways to look at life’s problems and struggles. Finally, let’s not forget all the technological tutoring sessions. I am not sure I would be able to use Facebook or my smartphone were it not for my tech team of teens. The relationships I have formed with the young people of this parish are such a blessing, and I thank God for bringing those young people into my life.

I have often said that the volunteers at St. Matthew are the best in the Deanery. The time, dedication, and overall love for our young people are inspiring to witness. The support, love, and dedication my volunteer crew has shown me are more than any youth minister would even think to ask for in ministry. I cannot thank you enough for traveling this crazy and wild journey of youth ministry with me. One of the highlights of my time here at St. Matthew has been to see former youth ministry teens become chaperones in the youth ministry program. Words cannot describe how powerful of a witness that is for the youth of our parish to see you, as young adults, come back and give your time and talent to our parish!

I am so very grateful that the Holy Spirit led me to St. Matthew back in 2004. Thirteen years of seeing the Holy Spirit move in the community of St. Matthew has changed me!! I have seen God move hearts in so many ways! St. Matthew Parish has been my home for 13 years and will always hold a special and dear place in my heart. Thank you for including me in your parish family. Thank you for supporting me, inspiring me, and caring for me all these years!

May God bless you today and always!

Deanna Dean
