January 8, 2012
Next Saturday, January 14th is St. Matthew duty day at the
St. Vincent de Paul Distribution Center. Truck drivers (no
CDL required), rider/helpers and dock workers are in
critically short supply. If you can help, please show up at
1201 E. Maryland about 7:45 am. Typically, trucks complete
their route about 1 pm. If we can’t get the collection trucks
out, we can’t get the items to fulfill next Saturday’s needs.
And the demand for appliances, furniture, bedding and box
springs far outpaces our supply. Please help if you can.
Scripture Study will begin in January 2012 (Tuesday
evening sessions will begin January 24th and Thursday
morning sessions will begin January 26th). The study this
session will be "The Gospel According to John" and there are
11 lessons. The cost for the books for the study of John is
$13.00 per person. Sign-up will be held after all Masses
during the weekend of January 7th & 8th, or you can contact
Leslie Kerr (email l_f_kerr@comcast.net; phone 823-0112) if
you have questions or would like to attend this study. There will be no Mommy and Me during December.
We are excited to see all Moms of babies and preschoolers in January!
St. Matthew Parish Mission Please mark your calendars and plan to attend our annual Parish Mission on February 12 - 14, 2012. Fr. Pat Beidelman will be the presenter at this mission and the theme is Encountering Christ in the Sacraments. Watch future bulletins for more information!
St. Vincent de Paul - Beggars for the Poor program is in need of extra large shirts, pants (especially jeans) and pull over hoodies. As the weather becomes colder, we need to provide warmer clothing for the poor of our community.
Our Parish Directory which also lists the many ministries
of our parish will be updated soon. This book is provided to
our church at no cost and that includes the mailing! It is
subsidized by local businesses that advertise in the book. If
you know of someone that may be interested in advertising in
this book contact Kitty Fischer at fischer5316@comcast.net.
