This Sunday, Oct. 6, Indiana Right to Life is inviting you to participate in the annual life chain. The life chain will gather on Meridian St. between North St. and 38th St. from 2:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. It is not to late to register.
A 7th and 8th grade dance will be held Friday, Oct. 4, for North Deanery Parishes from 7 to 9 p.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 6950 E. 46th St., 46th & Shadeland. Young people will gather for fellowship through dancing, playing games, and interacting with others from different parishes.
Oct. 12 and 13 will be our “Jeans and Hoodies” drive for the homeless served by the St. Vincent de Paul “Beggars for the Poor” initiative. We’re seeking cold-weather jeans and sweatshirts (ideally, with hoods) for the homeless men who will bear the biggest brunt of the cold weather ahead.
Our parish “why statement” explains our noble purpose as a Catholic faith community. The statement also describes how and what we do to achieve our purpose.
WHY? We answer the call to love and serve by walking with Christ.
HOW? As a Catholic community, we love God and others by devoting our time, talent and treasure. “For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.” Matthew 6:21.
WHAT? As a Catholic community, we offer a spiritual home that transforms lives by:
--Meeting spiritual needs using God’s Word and the sacraments and by nurturing a personal relationship with Christ.
--Achieving a deep sense of belonging to the Saint Matthew Parish family.
--Inspiring personal growth and growing God’s Kingdom.
