Annual Women’s Retreat 2020
What Song Is God Singing to You?
Fatima Retreat House
Start Lent off right by taking care of yourself, spending time with God and in fellowship with other women, and leave with practical tools to empower you and grow your relationship with God. This year will include breakouts on yoga, mindfulness, and art for the soul.
Retreat Leader: Sister Kathleen Yeadon. Sister Yeadon has been a member of Our Lady of Grace Monastery since 1991. Most of her work career has centered around youth as a Youth Minister and a high school teacher. She taught Sacred Scripture for 19 years and Social Justice topics for 7. Now, Sr. Kathleen works for Indy Reads in downtown Indianapolis in adult literacy. Her main role is helping with English language learners. Sr. Kathleen has a Master’s Degree in Monastic Studies and thoroughly enjoys reading a variety of monastic authors and writers. Her free time includes writing poetry and hiking.
DON’T MISS THESE BREAKOUT ACTIVITIES:
Yoga. Leader: Michelle VanderPlaats. Michelle’s yoga journey started in 2010 when she enrolled in a 30-day yoga challenge. She was emotionally depleted and exhausted, feeling confused and overwhelmed as a stay-at-home mom. She had no idea what a huge emotional impact these 30 days would have on her. Yoga challenges her to be present, breathe deeply, and love herself. Michelle is a wife and mother of three kids. She teaches physical education at St. Matthew School. She lived in Carmel most of her life and is a graduate of Carmel High School and Purdue University.
Art for the Soul. Leader: Trudy Gumbel. Trudy and her husband, Mark, have been members of St. Matthew since 1988. She had three kids who attended St. Matthew School and currently has a grandson in Prek here. She is a long-time quilter, crafter, DIYer. Her operating mode: “We could do that!”
Mindfulness. Leader: Megan Hider. Megan holds a Master of Science in Clinical Exercise Physiology from Ball State University and is the Wellness Coordinator for the Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center at Eskenazi Health. She is a certified practitioner of MindBody Medicine. Megan has facilitated Mind-Body Skills Groups with numerous groups.
