The Spiritual Life Commission is reaching out to fellow parishioners who have recently lost a loved one. The commission is starting a St. Rita Bereavement Ministry. As commission members learn about someone’s loss, they will send a note/card. Their wish is that those who are grieving will know that the St. Matthew Community is praying with them and for their family. We trust the Holy Spirit will bless these efforts in reaching out to the bereaved. Please let us know if you or a fellow parishioner has lost someone. The grieving person’s name and address, along with the deceased person’s name, can be emailed here. You might wonder why the commission is calling this ministry the “St. Rita Bereavement Ministry.” St. Rita trusted God totally and prayed for her needs and wants. She is a patron saint of the impossible, for widows, and for the lonely (also baseball, but we won’t go into that). We believe prayers are powerful, and she is a wonderful witness to that belief. The goal is for this ministry to truly become a parish effort. Her feast day is May 22.
