Join our next scripture study as we explore Mark: The Gospel through the Eyes of Peter. This Gospel has long been regarded as the authoritative teaching of Peter, composed by his follower Mark. The study is a deep dive into this most foundational book of the Bible. The plan right now is for the study to be held in person at St. Matthew. It will run 18 weeks (split into two 9-week sessions—fall and spring).
Study start date—Choose either Tuesday evening or Thursday morning meeting time:
— Tuesday, Sept. 14, starting at 7 p.m.
— Thursday, Sept. 16, starting at 9:30 a.m. (a change from 9 a.m. as originally announced)
Cost is $40 and includes a workbook. Please pay and receive your workbook at the first session. Make check payable to St. Matthew Church.
In this engaging verse-by-verse study, we will join authors Fr. Patrick Winslow, JCL, and Michael Pakaluk, PhD, as they examine this compelling introduction to the Christ. See Jesus through the eyes of Peter. Experience him first as a “worker of mighty deeds” who expels demons and heals the sick, who teaches that the Kingdom of God has arrived in power. And learn with Peter why it was necessary for Christ to suffer. In Mark you will find the following:
— Extensive commentary that opens up the meaning of the entire biblical text
— Powerful teaching videos with an in-depth look at a particular passage each week
— Questions to help you reflect on the biblical text and how to apply it to your life
— Supplemental readings from the Catechism, Church teachings, and the saints
This fascinating, compelling study of Mark: The Gospel through the Eyes of Peter is a life-changing experience of following Christ as an original disciple. Like those disciples, you will hear the Lord’s call—and understand it like never before—so that you can go out into the world as His follower and tell the Good News.
