August Adoration to Pray for End to Gun Violence; Prayer Tree Lists Victims’ Names
During the month of August, the St. Matthew Spiritual Life Commission is asking all parishioners to pray for an end to gun violence in support of Jack Shockley Warriors for Peace, a prayerful initiative by the Shockley family, who lost their son to gun violence in 2020.
To further this effort, the prayer tree in the narthex has a display of the names of more than 100 people who have died by gun violence in Indianapolis thus far in 2022.
Parishioners are invited to take a name of one of the victims and pray throughout August for this individual, for his or her family, and for an end to gun violence.
Also, you are invited to join members of the Spiritual Life Commission in praying during weekly Adoration in August for the victims and for an end to gun violence. Adoration follows the 6 p.m. Wednesday Mass. All are welcome.
