Proud to Be Warriors After All These Years

“God made teachers to make a difference in the world.”

Sr. Heidi Marie Krack, OSB

Three Long-Time St. Matthew Educators Still at 4100 E. 56th St.

As we hope you agree, St. Matthew has been blessed with many wonderful teachers and staff over its 61 years.  Three long-time staff members you might remember are still teaching at 4100 E. 56th St.  Sr.Heidi Marie Krack, OSB, Mr. Brian Moyer, and Mrs. Mary (Kenney) Marsh all continue to impact the lives of Warrior students in myriad ways.

Sr. Heidi  is currently the longest-tenured staff member, having begun teaching at St. Matthew in 1990-91!  She has taught 2nd grade and 5th grade, along with 4th grade Religion.  At other Archdiocesan schools she has taught 1st, 3rd, and 6th grades as well as Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors.  Sr. Heidi believes, “God made teachers to make a difference in the world.”

Mr. Moyer is the long-time Middle School Social Studies teacher, having started his career in 1995-96.  Many of you will also remember his organizing the famed Washington D.C. trips.  He is known for saying, “What are your questions for me?” and “Single file to the right.”

Mrs. Marsh has served two different stints as a staff member at St. Matthew, having started in 1988-89 as Miss Kenney.  She is also a St. Matthew alumnae and lifelong parishioner of St. Matthew.  She returned in 2002-03 after having her children (all of whom are also SMS alumni, and daughter Caitlin (SMS ‘10) is a current 1st grade aide at St. Matthew).  Many will remember her imprecation to “Behave and Be Holy.”

St. Matthew, and more importantly her students and graduates, are fortunate to have these three staff members (and so many more over the years) sacrifice much to provide a quality Catholic education to Warriors for many years
