On the weekend of August 3rd and 4th, 2024, we have the honor of a visit from the Sisters of Mary Immaculate of Nyeri-Kenya, as one of our two missionary visits this upcoming summer. Sr. Jane Ndungu and her companion sister have inquired if there is the possibility of staying in the home of one of our parishioners for the nights of August 2nd through August 4th. If you and your family can host our missionary sisters during their visit, please reach out to me at
atully@saintmatt.org or 317-257-4297, ext. 2211. Thank you for your kind consideration of this request!

Sisters of Mary Immaculate of Nyeri is a Religious Women’s Community founded on the slopes of Mt. Kenya in 1918. The founders of this community were Mother Julia Muthoni, Mother Jusepha Wambui, Sr. Filippina Njeri, and Msgr. Filipo Perlo a Consolata Missionary who had come to Kenya from Italy in 1902 to live and work. The Missionary Sisters of Mary Immaculate minister throughout East Africa, Europe as well as the United States. In founding the congregation, Bishop Perlo believed that anyone who would come to be a part of the new congregation must follow in the footsteps of our Lord Jesus Christ in caring for the poor, the needy, and those who were suffering.
Today, there are more than 500 Sisters actively serving in Tanzania, Zambia, Uganda, Italy, Kenya, and the United States. In the light of Christ, we continue to hold closely to the belief that it is the duty of all Christians to reach out on behalf of those who cannot care for themselves. At present, we graciously accept any support to continue this mission. More details can be found on our website: www.msomi.org.
